Executive Programs Assistant (Full-time)

Unlike any other charity, Starlight Children’s Foundation™ offers a unique blend of ongoing programs to help families survive the crisis of childhood illness. Since 2010, Starlight MidAtlantic has provided a record 4.5 million hours of entertainment to more than 200,000 children receiving treatment at 154 hospitals throughout Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, and Washington, DC.

Whether it’s a Fun Center™ in the hospital, a Pirates on the Potomac Great Escape™, or Starbright World™ online, Starlight’s programs reduce the toll that lengthy hospital stays and painful medical treatments take on a family and restore some of the laughter, happiness and normalcy that childhood illness takes away.

With its recent growth, Starlight MidAtlantic is in need of a full-time Executive Programs Assistant in its Washington, DC location.  The position is a flexible 40 hours per week with a salary range of $35,000-$47,000 including a comprehensive benefits package. 

POSITION SUMMARY - The Executive Programs Assistant will work closely with the Executive Director to provide high-level administrative support for programs, development, and outreach.

RESPONSIBILITIES - The Executive Programs Assistant will support the day-to-day activities of a busy, fast-paced, mission-driven office. Most important, the Executive Programs Assistant will need to be a team player with the ability to multi-task and respond quickly to demanding initiatives. He or she will need to be able to contribute and apply new ideas quickly while managing the details of a growing organization.

Day-to-day activities require office management to include answering phone calls, planning meetings, ordering supplies, copying, faxing, and filing, maintaining equipment, running errands, processing payroll, performing background checks, entering membership information, managing family and donor databases, sending welcome and thank you letters, submitting documentation for state certifications, collecting and preparing accounting data, overseeing e-appeals and mailings, coordinating newsletter production, and editing the website.  Additionally, the Executive Programs Assistant will assist with the coordination of community and hospital programs that provide fun for families with seriously ill children.

QUALIFICATIONS - The successful candidate will be detail oriented, have a strong work ethic, a good sense of humor as well as solid experience (5+ years) in either customer service, public relations or health administration environments. Competency in business administration as well as effective communication with all levels in the community is required.  Experience with Quickbooks, DonorPerfect, MicroSoft Access and/or Adobe InDesign would be helpful.
