Who We Are

Starlight MidAtlantic helps seriously ill children and their families cope with their pain, fear and isolation through entertainment, education and family activities.
Starlight MidAtlantic softens the hard edges of what a family experiences when a child has a serious illness, from the time of diagnosis all the way through, in the hospital and at home. Starlight MidAtlantic focuses on the children of Delaware, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia, DC and West Virginia.
When a child has a serious medical condition, everyone in the family is affected. The kids, their parents and siblings struggle with the intrusion of illness into their lives. Our entertainment, education and family activity programs have been proven to distract children from pain, help them better understand and manage their illness, and connect families facing similar challenges so that no one feels alone. This past year, Starlight MidAtlantic partnered with 154 hospitals and treatments centers and provided ongoing support to more than 216,000 children and family members. Our efforts were made possible thanks to the generous support of 300 dedicated volunteers.
Our programs are a unique blend of technology-driven tools and fun-filled special events that take place in and out of the hospital. While doctors work to heal children’s bodies, Starlight MidAtlantic heals their spirits. We are the only program that works with children on a continuous basis, at the time of diagnosis, during treatment, and afterwards at home. Starlight MidAtlantic’s programs are designed not only with the sick child in mind; our programs include siblings and families.
